Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
A 54year-old man identified as Ojo Joseph has reportedly set his five step-children ablaze in Ondo.
The incident happened at the Fagun crescent area of Ondo town on Sunday morning.
Joseph reportedly set the children ablaze after their mother denied him sex.
The suspect was said to have poured petrol into the room where the children were sleeping and set fire to it.
One of the children was burnt to death while others suffered severe injuries and are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
His wife and their 18 month-old twins, however, escaped from the inferno with minor injuries.
Confirming the incident, Funmi Odunlami, Ondo police spokesperson, said Joseph had been arrested.
She added that investigation has commenced and would be concluded before charging the suspect to court for alleged arson and murder.
