JUST-IN; Niger Delta Support Group Begs Tinubu To Reinstate Betta Edu

The president of Niger Delta Youths support group Comrade Layefa Zuokumi, in the spirit of Nigeria’s independence, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reinstate the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr Betta Edu.
This is on the heel of pervasive hunger in the country, most especially as it affects the less privileged.
In an open letter to the President Tinubu, the group expressed worry that the suspension of the minister, the National Social Investment Programmes and Humanitarian Response are still performing below average in Nigeria, despite the nerve-racking hardship, insecurity and humanitarian crises faced by a vast majority of Nigerians.
Comrade Layefa Zuokumi stressed the role played by Dr. Betta Edu towards the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the Amazon should not be rewarded with a protracted suspension after helping to enthrone the renewed hope government.
The group whose presence covers over eight states, said “Dr Edu’s contribution towards national development, especially her swiftness in attending to emergency situations is unrivaled,”
It will be recalled that Dr. Betta was relieved of her duty to allow for transparent investigation into the alleged financial scandal hovering over her ministry, noting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had already absolved her of any crimes in the said breaches.
The group called on the federal government “to expedite action by reinstating her to continue the good work she had been doing to Nigerians as her reinstatement will help in cementing the public’s confidence in this administration.”
