JUST IN: Obasanjo, Wike, and others meet in London
By Adeleye Kunle
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, and three Peoples Democratic Party governors met in London, the capital of the United Kingdom.
At the meeting were Governors Sam Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
According to Wike’s aide, Lamido lacks electoral value.
Former Cross River Governor Donald Duke and Senator Olaka Nwogu also attended the London meeting.
The meeting’s specifics are unknown, but observers believe it is related to the 2023 general elections.
Wike is embroiled in a verbal spat with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s camp.
The three PDP governors and Duke are members of Wike’s camp, which has demanded that the National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, and others be removed as a condition for backing Atiku in 2023.
