JUST IN: Senate Summons Aregbesola, NIS Boss Over Contract Dispute On Revenue Generation

TRACKING___The Joint Senate Committees on Finance and National Planning has summoned the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, over contract handling of the issuance of the Resident Permit for Non-ECOWAS citizens by a firm, CONTEK.
The committee issued the summon today at the opening of a Five-day public hearing on the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).
The Chairman of the committee, Senator Solomon Areola, said the duo must come to explain the circumstances surrounding the details and award of the contract to CONTEK, which allegedly had been keeping bulk of the monies received on behalf of the Federal Government for the issuance of the resident permit.
The NIS boss at the hearing said the firm kept between 72 and 55 percents of the monies received between 2018 and now
