JUST IN: Teenager hacked to death in his Lagos apartment.

Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Jerome Emeka Akwuene, 15, was reportedly hacked to death Monday at his father’s home in Ago Palace Way, Lagos State, by unidentified individuals.
Late Emeka, a Senior Secondary School student, was discovered with a deep machete cut on his neck inside his room at 54, Niyi Onilari Street, Grand Mate bus stop, Ago Palace Way.
According to Track News, Chubuike, an apprentice with the late Emeka’s father, said: “While at the shop yesterday, I became uncomfortable by 2 p.m.” I wanted to close and go home, but it wasn’t yet my closing time, so I waited until 4.30 p.m. and began packing the goods inside the shop.
I usually walked home, but this time I took a tricycle. When I arrived at the house, I discovered that the washing machine was turned on and the water was running without hearing Emeka’s voice. I went outside and asked if anyone had seen Emeka leave for his mother’s shop, but no one had.
“I went back inside, and when I opened Emeka’s door, it was like a wrestling match, and I saw Emeka lying lifeless beside a blood-splattered knife.” It was about 5:40 p.m.”
Chibuike described the deceased as a laid-back teenager with no social life. “Emeka would be at home all day without anyone knowing,” he explained.
“With his laptop, he was good at sleeping and waking up.” His attire was always simple. His mother bought him flashy clothes, but he never wore them, even to church.
“The only time he complained about something was when he borrowed a laptop from a classmate and he (friend) ruined it while coding software because they were learning coding in school.”
Mr Jerome Akwuene, the bereaved father, reported the incident to Ago Police.
Emeka’s remains have been deposited at the mortuary, and the case has been taken over by homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police, confirmed the incident and stated that no arrests had been made thus far, but that an investigation was ongoing.
