The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gusau Branch Chairman, Junaidu Abubakar, confirmed his murder in a statement on Friday. He said: “Yesterday at about 2230hrs, while I was in my house, I received three different phone calls from our colleaques informing me that B. T. Azza Esq. was shot dead by unknown gunmen and his body was lying on the road side along Byepass near FRSC office, Gusau.
“I raced to the location as soon as I received the information and met our colleagues, Abdullahi Ibrahim and Ibrahim Sani Gusau, together with a large number of security personnel (police and soldiers). I observed BT Azza’s lifeless body lying on the roadside shoulders, covered in cold blood. Additionally, I noticed his Lexus Jeep lying on the side of the road.
“While we were there, FRSC’s men arrived on the scene with a body bag in which the deceased was placed before being removed by the police to Yariman Bakura Specialists Hospital in Gusau, where his remains was interred.
“According to the report, two unidentified gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle and are believed to be kidnappers shot and killed BT Azza. According to the source, the gunmen attempted to kidnap him at his home in the Saminaka Area, behind the FRSC Headquarters, on the Byepass in Gusau, but he managed to flee, drive his car, and run to the side of the road.
“The shooters chased after him and killed him.
“B. T. Azza’s neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the neighborhood, followed by the loud sound of a car crash. They witnessed BT open the door to his car, get out, and walk along the main road on his legs before sitting down and beginning to bleed out, which caused him to pass away instantaneously when they arrived on the scene.
