The Commissioner for Education in Bayelsa State, Dr. Gentle Emelah, has announced that Kaiama Grammar School Model Secondary will officially commence academic activities in the next academic session. This confirmation came after a courtesy visit to his office on Tuesday by Hon. Werinipre Pamoh, a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency I, alongside members of the Kaiama Grammar School Old Students Association, led by National President Elder Peter Oweifaghawari.

During the meeting, Hon. Pamoh and Elder Oweifaghawari raised concerns about several issues affecting education in the area. They highlighted employment challenges at Ijaw National Academy, furniture shortages at Kaiama Grammar School, and the delay in opening the new model secondary school in Kaiama. They urged the government to address these concerns to ensure a smooth academic experience for students.

In response, Dr. Emelah assured them that steps were being taken to resolve these issues. He immediately directed the supply of furniture to Kaiama Grammar School, ensuring that the school is adequately equipped before the next academic session begins. He stressed the importance of providing necessary resources to enhance learning conditions for students.

The commissioner also acknowledged the Bayelsa State government’s continued efforts to improve the education sector. However, he admitted that despite significant investments, the impact has not been fully realized due to years of neglect in the sector. He emphasized that more funding was needed to achieve the desired transformation in education across the state.

With the confirmation of Kaiama Grammar School Model Secondary’s opening, stakeholders hope that the new institution will contribute to raising educational standards in the region. The state government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure and staffing challenges is seen as a crucial step in ensuring quality education for students in Bayelsa.
