Kano Hisbah destroys 25 trailers of beer

The Kano State Hisbah Board on Thursday said it destroyed 25 trailers of beer in 2022.
“Additional bottles of assorted beer will be wiped out before January 2023,” the Sharia police said.
Section 401 of the Penal Code Law No 4 of 2004 prohibits the manufacture, distillation, disposal, haulage, consumption and possession of all brands of intoxicating liquors in the state.
Commander General of Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina, who briefed reporters, said the agency arrested 2,260 suspects.
He said most of them were handed over to security agencies while the underage was reunited with their families.
Sina noted that in the year under review, as part of efforts to mitigate street begging within the metropolitan local government areas, 1,269 beggars were evacuated within one month of which 386 were repatriated to their states.
The board dispersed 86 “immoral gatherings“such as same-sex marriage, drug parties and other similar offences across the state.
It said 822 disputes were resolved amicably, while some are still ongoing at various courts due to the complexity of the cases.
The commander-general said 15 couples were married at Hisbah while 22 people converted to Islam during da’wah in 2022.
