Pensioners in Kebbi have threatened to vote for the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP in the 2023 elections if the government fails to meet all of their demands.
Speaking after emerging from a congress meeting in Birnin Kebbi, the state group leader, Alhaji Babangida Garba Gwandu, stated that at the congress meeting, all stakeholders unanimously agreed that if the state government under Senator Atiku Bagudu fails to meet their demands, which include full payment of all backload of gratuities, pension review for both old and new pensioners, as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, “we are left with no option but to support the
Dan Buran Gwandu also stated that they will mobilize their members against the current government, claiming that their pressure group is non-political because they are children of necessity who do not engage in partisan politics, but the welfare of their members is paramount to them and thus non-negotiable.
He urges his teaming members to remain law abiding as they have always been, as the group will, as usual, use peaceful and diplomatic means to persuade the government to meet their demands without further delay, while also urging them to wait for further action, which will be communicated to all members in due course.
