Keyamo Breaks Silence On Tinubu’s Confirmation Of Shettima As Running Mate
By Adeleye Kunle
Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has praised the selection of former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s running mate, Track News reports.
Recall that Tinubu confirmed Senator Shettima as his running mate in an interview with journalists on Sunday following a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
Shettima, the Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, was instrumental in Tinubu’s campaign for the APC presidential nomination.
The former governor will take the place of Ibrahim Masari, whose name was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the ruling party’s interim vice presidential candidate.
In response to the news, Keyamo stated that the former Borno Governor is the ideal candidate for the party’s vice-presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Keyamo described Shettima as a quintessential banker, economist, and intellectually fertile politician in a tweet sent through his official Twitter handle hours after the confirmation.
“Suave gentleman & politician, intellectually fertile, economically sound, intergenerationally mobile (he’s young, yet experienced), fiercely loyal, phenomenally complementary to @officialABAT,” Hw wrote.
“Sen. Kashim Shettima is the ideal choice for Vice President.”
