Kidnapped Nasarawa LG chairman and three others regain freedom after ransom payment
The abducted chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Isa Andaha, his political godfather, Adamu Umar, and two others have regained their freedom after payment of N10m ransom. LIB reported that gunmen abducted the victims on New Years Day at Ningo village along Andaha-Akwanga Road.
A close associate of the council boss, who confirmed the development to Daily Trust, said the victims were released behind an obsolete filling station on Bayan Dutse road on the outskirts of Andaba town on Tuesday night, January 2, 2023.
They were released on Tuesday night around 9pm on Bayan Dutse road and the sum of N10m was paid as ransom, the source said. The Nation also reported that a member of the state working committee of the All Progressives Congress who hails from Akwanga Local Government and spearheaded the negotiation confirmed the release on condition of anonymity.
The council chairman and other victims were accompanied by a heavy security operatives to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Keffi for medical attention.
