Kidnapping: Osun Police reassures residence of safety

The Nigeria Police, Osun State Command, has re-assured its readiness to secure the lives and properties of residents of the state.

It also revealed that its personnel were on the trail of the suspected kidnappers of Muhammad Jubril who was abducted from his Ago-Igbira Fulani settlement in Ila-Orangun early on Wednesday.

Track news had reported that Amotekun Osun in conjunction with other security agencies had commenced rescue operation for the victim and to apprehend the kidnappers.

The Osun Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe through the Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola had in a statement obtained by Track news revealed that, “on the 12th April, 2023 at about 7am, one Sekiri Fulani Mohammed Kajibo ‘m’ reported that, unknown gunmen numbering about eight (8) suspected to be Fulani of the Bororo stock attacked Ago Igbira, a Fulani settlement between the hours of 11pm of 11th April, 2023 to 12am of 12th April, 2023 and abducted one Mohammed Jubril ‘m’ aged 30 years and injured one Hassan Jubril during the invasion.”

Longe also stated that the Police Command in collaboration with the local vigilantes/hunters on receipt of the incident swung into action.

According to him, they combed the forest area, and equally deployed technical platforms to locate the position of the hoodlums.

“The Police Command will not rest on its oars until all criminal elements are apprehended and made to face justice,” Longe assured.

Meanwhile, a group, The Osun Masterminds has expressed fear over the incessant rate of kidnapping, killings and crimes in the state.

It also stressed that the situation was throwing the state into an alarming insecurity and a reign of terror.

In a statement by its Executive Director, Professor Wasiu Oyedokun Alli, he expressed displeasure over the refusal of authorities to heed his earlier warning.

“We advise Governor Ademola Adeleke to act immediately, to restore confidence and peace in the state,” he said
