Kuje jailbreak: Benue police apprehend another escapee

The BENUE State Police Command announced the capture of an escapee from Kuje Prison.
Ebube Igwe, the fugitive, was apprehended on Wednesday in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
Igwe was apprehended along George Akume Way, Wurukum, Makurdi, according to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Kate Anene (SP).
SP Kate Anene said in a press statement made available to journalists on Thursday, “On 19/7/2022 at about 3 pm, information was received about one Ebube Igwe Jude; a fugitive who had arrived in Makurdi as a result of the Kuje jailbreak.” Detectives assigned to the case apprehended him on George Akume Way in Wurukum, Makurdi.
“During the investigation, he admitted to fleeing Kuje Correctional Center during the jailbreak.” He also stated that he is an awaiting trial inmate, facing a culpable homicide charge in the death of his girlfriend.
“The command has initiated procedures to hand over the escapee to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.”
