Kwara man is accused of assaulting the two-year-old son of his neighbor during a domestic argument.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Idowu Ali, a 32-year-old commercial driver from Kwara State, is currently being detained in the Oke-Kura Custodial Center after being accused of assaulting Godwin Ifeanyi, a two-year-old boy, following an altercation with his parents on June 14 at their home in the Oja Oba neighborhood of Ilorin. Ali was detained and accused of attempted culpable homicide, causing great bodily harm, and criminal trespass in Ilorin Magistrate’s Court.
The prosecution claims that the provisions of sections 348, 248 and 229 of the Kwara State Penal Code Law apply to the offenses. According to a First Information Report that was presented in court, the case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for a covert investigation on June 14, 2022, at around 2.16 p.m. from the divisional police headquarters “C” Division, Oja Oba, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Emmanuel Ifeanyi reported to the “C” Division of the Ilorin police department on June 8 at 10 a.m. that on June 7, 2022, around 11.15 p.m., a man named Idowu Ali climbed up to challenge him about a domestic matter and left in a rage, only to return moments later with a cutlass in his hand and violently kick the family while they were sleeping in the upstairs hallway of their home.
When the aforementioned Idowu Ali, who had been hired to have the complainant’s son beheaded, accidentally separated his leg from his ankle and hacked it off, Godwin Ifeanyi was dozing off on the ground. Godwin Ifeanyi was 2.5 years old at the time.
Emmanuel Ifeanyi said that Idowu Ali attacked him and wounded him in the right thumb with a cutlass in an effort to deter the guy from mistreating his family members any further. Idowu Ali was captured after prompt police intervention.
According to a CID in Ilorin investigation, Idowu Ali’s son Alameen, 10, was physically abusing Emmanuel Ifeanyi’s 10-year-old son Munachi, which led to a quarrel between the two parents.
Idowu Ali, you admitted in the course of a covert investigation that your wife had been beaten by Emmanuel Ifeanyi, also known as Baba Ibo, and his wife at the time she had contacted you. When you went home that evening from work, your wife was advised to wait.
You addressed Emmanuel Ifeanyi, also known as Baba Ibo on stage, regarding the reasons why he and his wife attacked your wife as well as the incident in which Baba Ibo shoved you after you arrived home late one night from work. As a result, you walked away to get your cutlass. Once you returned to Baba Ibo’s house, you used the cutlass to cut off Godwin Ifeanyi’s right leg from the ankle.
His attorney, G. T. Olumo, submitted a motion for the defendant’s release on bail when the case was initially scheduled for hearing in court on June 17, 2022. The Judge, Mr. I.A. Dasuki, requested to know the child’s condition before the infant was transferred to a hospital.
Onwa Ifeanyi, the victim’s family’s attorney, claimed that the victim’s parents had been pleading with individuals and the Igbo community for financial assistance in order to treat their child.
The defendant’s defense attorney asserted that the state Ministry of Justice had also brought an accusation against the defendant before the state High Court. The next hearing date for the case was set by the court for August 29, 2022.
