Lawmaker blasts Umahi over road conditions
A member of the House of Representatives representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Aderemi Oseni, has slammed the Minister of Works, David Umahi over his inability to fix major existing Nigeria roads.
The lawmaker claimed Minister Umahi concentrated his energy in less priority issues hence his inability to deliver.
Oseni, who was seen blasting the Minister in a now-viral video, questioned the benchmark used for his appraisal.
The lawmaker said: “You are not here to tell us what we already know in the area of resources. So if you are telling us the reason why you have failed in fixing our road infrastructure is because of resources, don’t let me take you up there. Because you concentrated your energy as a Minister in less priority issues. Don’t discuss resources, I say it again.
“All the roads that we have across the country have failed. If you are addressing these roads, existing roads with the resources that you have sir, Honourable Minister, we will not be where we are. Don’t discuss resources.
“You came here last year, you got N300bn budget approval, supplementary approval, don’t raise my emotions.
“I am worried that you are not concerned about fixing Nigeria roads. We are not here for business of whether you want to do the job or not. Stop telling us that you are awarding roads. We don’t want you to be awarding roads that you are not ready to do.
“How can you be telling there is no resources from everything everybody has said, it’s a clue you have no plans for us as a nation.
“I was wondering what was used as a benchmark for your appraisal.”
