Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly have denied reports that they have backed down from their threat to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the country’s worsening insecurity.
Track News previously reported that opposition lawmakers had threatened to impeach Buhari if he did not address the country’s insecurity within six weeks.

In an interview with Track News on Sunday, PDP senator representing Osun East senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi, stated that the opposition party’s move to impeach the President was not true.

Fadahunsi stated that the lawmakers would also remove Senate President Ahmed Lawan from office prior to any moves against Buhari, adding that they could not continue to die in silence.

“Who said that?” he asked. Who are the members of the opposition (lawmakers) who met? You spoke with Senator Gershom Bassey, who stated that we meant what we said. Those who say such things are not in good spirits.

“You heard Senator Clifford (Ordia) from Edo, Senator Bulkachuwa (Mohammed), and the rest of the northern senators support the impeachment.” So, who are the people who told them that?

“Bulkachuwa had moved the motion earlier, but the Senate President shot him down because we were not present.” We’ll push him out of here soon instead of dying one by one and remaining silent.”

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, who represents Abia South, echoed his colleague and denied that the opposition senators had abandoned their decision to remove Buhari.

Abaribe stated that he was unaware of such a decision because the plenary was adjourned on the same day that the motion to impeach the president was introduced.

“No such thing,” he said. That same day, we took a break. ” I’m not aware of any such progress. Most likely false.”

Senator Abiodun Olujimi of Ekiti South Senatorial District, who also supports her colleagues, stated that reports that the senators were abandoning the impeachment process were false.

According to her, impeaching the president was a unanimous decision, and they haven’t met since the last plenary.

“I am not aware of such a decision; it was a settled issue that we all agreed on the impeachment of the President if the nation’s insecurity was not addressed,” she said.

“To the best of my knowledge, we haven’t had any meetings since then.” As a result, things remain as they are.”

There is no Impeachment Motion.
In response, Senate spokesperson Ajibola Bashiru stated that the Senate was not aware of any impeachment threat.

Bashiru stated that there was no impeachment notice and that a media walkout was not an impeachment move.

“Honestly, I don’t know anything about that, and I am not aware that they have even filed any motion,” he said. There must be a motion before discussing an impeachment procedure.

“There was no motion, and there was no application to that effect.” So I’m not aware of any impeachment proceedings.

“There must be an impeachment notice if you want to talk about impeachment.” Was an impeachment notice issued? A media walkout is not the same as serving an impeachment notice.

“In the first place, I am not aware of any impeachment talks; I can only speak of the procedure before the National Assembly, not politics.” And, as far as I am aware, none are currently before the National Assembly.”
