Leave Gov. Fubara alone, Group warns.

Ijaw Renaissance Force, Association of Waterways Ambassadors of Nigeria for Greater and Better Nigeria groups came together on Wednesday 20th December, 2023 and “pass a vote of confidence” on Governor Siminalaye Fubara and Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The groups also thanked the people of Rivers State for defending the mandate that was given freely to Governor Siminalaye Fubara, who is called the ‘people’s Governor’.

According to Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli, who is the National President of Niger Delta Nonviolence Agitators Forum and Executive Director, Centre for Peace and Advocacy and Social Rehabilitation, that after their meeting, resolved that the people of the Niger Delta region and Nigerians under the various platforms deemed it necessary to call on Rivers people irrespective of political parties, to support Governor Siminalaye Fubara in his quest to develop the State.

He said the forum condemned in strong terms the rascally of the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, most especially Rt. Hon.Martins Amaewhule.

“We frown and object the purported resolutions of the Monday 18th December, 2923 meeting that was convened by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, where Governor Fubara was ambushed and treated like a common man and was coerced to accept terms that are anti-people of Rivers and therefore not acceptable”, the groups said.

They said they want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appreciate the goodwill of Rivers people, other Niger Deltans and Nigerians who freely voted for him and not to throw it away to satisfy Me. Nyesome Ezebunwo Wike, who during the Presidential election failed in his polling unit, ward and local government area.

“We want Mr President to understand the fact that the will of few individuals who hold public offices entrust for the majority of the people can never override the overall interest of the masses and electorates who voted them”, the groups said.

They said since the inception of this democracy in 1999 till 2023, the people of the upland have ruled and held on to power for 24years until the election of Gov. Siminalayi Joseph Fubara who is from the Riverine who has spent only just few months in office.

“Anything contrary to the position of the people of Rivers State shall be vehemently opposed and we shall Mobilize people to occupy Rivers State, the National Assembly and all foreign Missions and Embassies that are domiciled in the Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja, and we want the Presidency, Service Chiefs and the International Community to hold Chief Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike responsible for any break down of law and order in Rivers State and other parts of the Niger Delta knowing the adverse effects of the above on crude oil and gas production.
