Obioma scores first hat-trick of the season
Enyimba forward Chukwuemeka Obioma recorded the first hat-trick of the season, in the Aba giants 5-0 thrashing of Gombe United on Sunday night.
Obioma was in devastating form scoring in the 18th, 77th and 84th minutes, respectively.
The well built forward is also now the favourite to win the top scorer award after netting 14 times this season.
Remo Stars win for the first time in Jos
It was perhaps the most shocking result of the weekend. Remo Stars defeated Plateau United 2-1 in Jos to end the hosts hopes of securing a Super Six ticket.
Remo Stars were behind with only nine minutes left to play. Adams Olamilekan scored his first league goal for the Ikenne club before Lekan Adedayo won the game with a screamer.
Nasarawa United end decade-long stay in the NPFL
The Solid Miners were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League after going down to a 1-0 defeat against Kwara United in Akure on Sunday.
It ended the Lafia club’s 10-year stay in the Nigerian top-flight.
Nasarawa United struggled from the beginning of the season and never really recovered from their poor start.
Unbeaten Insurance seal Super Six spot
Bendel Insurance became the first club to officially qualify for the NPFL Super Six competition following a 1-1 home draw against Shooting Stars.
The Benin Arsenals in the process also extended their unbeaten run in the NPFL this season to 17 games.
A win in their next match will see them equal the old mark (18) set by Akwa United two seasons ago.
Sunshine Stars record first away win
Sunshine Stars stunned Niger Tornadoes 2-0 in Minna to record their first away win of the campaign on Sunday night.
David Onovo and Ibrahim Yusuf were the goal scorers for the Owena Waves. It put the club in a good position to challenge for a Super Six place.
The Akure club currently occupies fourth position on Group B table with 24 points from 16 games
