Man feigns kidnapping to steal tricycle
By Adeleye Kunle
Adesina Shittu, a tricycle rider, has been arrested after faking being kidnapped in order to steal a tricycle belonging to his boss.
Days after telling the tricycle’s owner that he was being held captive in Igoba, Akure, the capital of Ondo State, by kidnappers, Adesina was apprehended in Badagry, Lagos State.
The tricycle’s owner was said to have purchased the tricycle for N1.6 million and gave it to Adesina in exchange for daily deliveries of N4,000.
According to SP Fumilayo Odunlami, spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, the suspects called the owner three days later to inform him that he had been abducted and needed assistance from the owner to pay a ransom for his release.
Odunlami claimed forensic examinations aided the arrest of the culprit in Badagry with the tricycle and after which he was taken back to Akure.
She added that Taiwo Olamide and Olaoye Oluwatosin, who attacked and kidnapped Mrs. Akinloye Folashade in the Ofosu area, had also been arrested.
The suspects would soon face charges in court, according to Odunlami
