Man Tells Court How Mother-in-law Ruined His Marriage

A man, Mr Uchenna Okolie has on Thursday asked a Customary Court in Jikwoyi to grant him divorce.
The businessman who resides in Abuja sought for separation from his wife on the grounds that his mother-in-law had ruined his marriage.
In the petition filed, he explained that his wife’s mother would often order him around anytime she came to render post-natal care to his wife while also alleging that she has hated him since he lost his job.
He said: “My mother-In-law has ruined my marriage. She is ill-tempered and hated me after I lost my job.
“Whenever she comes to the house to render post-natal care to my wife, she will order me around. Anything I do to make her happy gets her angry. Whenever she is in my house, there is never peace.
“My mother in-law is always causing trouble between my wife and I.
“It is on this grounds that I seek to divorce my wife, and get custody of my two children.”
His wife, Ijeoma who is a stay-at-home mom was not present in court.
The presiding judge Labaran Gusau, adjourned the case to Feb. 28 for cross-examination and hearing.
