Massive crowd overwhelms Atiku in Kano
A surging crowd of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) yesterday thronged the Sani Abacha Stadium for the campaign of the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The huge crowd forced Atiku to address them from his motorcade with a promise of restoring Kano’s lost commercial glory and agriculture. Atiku arrived Kano into the waiting hands of the mammoth crowd, who were mostly wearing the trademark Kwankwasiyya Red Caps. He was on board the open bus with the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus; Presidential Campaign Director and Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Kawu Baraje, Sule Lamido and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, among others. He said he was overwhelmed by the crowd that received him. He said: “I promise not to let you down and I promised to revive your commercial nerve centre’s lost glory, agricultural viability and job creation.
This, by God’s grace, I will achieve these within time.” Atiku accused President Mohammadu Buhari of intentionally killing Kano’s commerce and agriculture and rendered hundreds of youths unemployed. This, he said has made them vulnerable to drugs addiction and other dangerous social vices.
The PDP presidential candidate also said that Kano would tremendously enjoy Hajj pilgrimage subsidies and make them go to the Holy Land with ease. Also, Saraki said there is hunger today in the land and many were left doing nothing. “But you should know that Atiku would salvage these negative tendencies for the better.”
Saraki emphasized that voting for Atiku is voting for prosperity, better Nigeria and a nation worth living in; as such, Kano should not allow itself to be left behind. Kwankwaso said that the Kano youth had not betrayed him as they truly showed that he owe the state asthere was nothing anybody would do. Kwankwaso said: “You should know that as from today, it is clear that Kano belongs to Kwankwasiyya and Kwankwasiyya is actual owner of Kano politics by the end of February 16 and March 2, we will show them that they don’t belong”.
Meanwhile, the Kano Central City home of Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, came under attack by what the Police said was suspected to be carried out by PDP members. Confirming the attack, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa, said “the attackers were suspected members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.”
