On Tuesday, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zmafara State urged the Federal Government to raise the retirement age of security personnel in Nigeria to 70, and to raise the entry age limit for Direct Short Service from 30 to 32 years to accommodate more able-bodied men and women willing to serve their fatherland in securing Nigeria.

Governor Matawalle, speaking at his country home in Maradun, said that this will allow those who are not tired to continue serving the country.

He claims that this will help sustain the gains made in the fight against terror and insecurity.

Matawalle also promised to make Zamfara Nigeria’s most peaceful state.

“As you know, we are facing the issue of insecurity in Zamfara,” the governor said of the state’s insecurity. I want Zamfara to be Nigeria’s most peaceful state. “I want to secure the people of Zamfara.”

In response to rampaging bandits, he stated, “I will ensure that Zamfara is the most peaceful, the most secure state in Nigeria.” I’m collaborating with some security to accomplish this. I would like to request that the Federal Government raise the retirement age for security personnel to 70 years, as it has done for university lecturers and some teachers. My belief is straightforward: most retirees are not tired.”
