Melania Trump’s chief of staff resigns with White House social secretary and press aide after violent protests at U.S. Capitol building.Â

Grisham did not say whether her resignation was in reaction to the violence in the nation’s capital. “As someone who worked in the halls of Congress I was deeply disturbed by what I saw today,” White House press aide Sarah Matthews said in a statement on Wednesday night. “I’ll be stepping down from my rope, effective immediately. Our nation needs a peaceful transfer of power.” Matthews also said, “I was honored to serve in the Trump administration and proud of the policies we enacted.” Multiple injuries were reported and one woman was killed at the U.S capitol building as Trump supporters stormed the building to protest his loss in November’s presidential election and also stop President-elect Joe Biden’s certification.
