The rivalry between a two-time senator, Smart Adeyemi and the incumbent senator representing Kogi-West, Dino Melaye, has resurfaced as both emerged winner on different platforms to represent Kogi-West Senatorial District.
While Melaye will be flying the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party, the journalist-turned-politician, Adeyemi, has secured the ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Adeyemi polled 1,659 votes ahead of three other aspirants, Dr Toyin Akanle, Tajudeen Bissimillahi, and Mrs Ibikunle Adedoyin, who polled 104,98 and 19 respectively, while 13 votes was voided.
In Kogi-East, Alhaji Jubril Isah (Echocho) was declared the winner of the APC Senate primary.
In Kogi-Central, Yakubu Oseni, who polled 1,100 emerged the winner of the APC Senate primary for the district.
Other contenders were Nurudeem Usman, 160 votes; Dalhatu Sharafadeen 371 votes; and Yusuf Haruna, 12 votes.
Melaye’s candidature was on Tuesday ratified through concession and automatic ticket on the platform of the PDP.
