A visibly disappointed Agu said the team performed poorly, particularly in front of their own fans.
“We lost and it was a bad performance. We have lost before but we took positives away but today (Saturday) we didn’t do well. It is even worse that it happened at home in front of our fans who have always supported us,” he told Completesportsnigeria.com after the game.
In the same vein, manager Lito Vidigal also said the players lacked “emotional control” but backed them to come back stronger in subsequent games.
He said: “We lacked discernment and some balance. The result was not what we wanted. We lacked emotional balance. In the second part, we played more with the will and we produced enough to have another result. The most important thing is to highlight the posture and delivery of the players and that continues to be positive.”
The manager also pointed at the congested fixtures as a possible reason why the team couldn’t give their best.
“We knew it was going to be difficult because it was the third game in less than a week so you can understand that the players could be a bit tired,”he summed up.
Setubal are now 11th in the Primeira Liga table and play their next game away to Boavista on January 2, 2019.
