Monday has been set aside by the tribunal in Osun to hear Oyetola’s application against Adeleke.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The ex-parte application filed by the state governor and APC candidate Gboyega Oyetola will be heard on Monday, according to the schedule set by the Electoral Tribunal for the Osun State governorship election.
After failing to serve the Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ademola Adeleke with court papers related to the case contesting his victory, the Tribunal set the hearing for Monday.
David Umar, the election tribunal’s secretary, told reporters about the situation that Adeleke could not make himself accessible for the duty.
Umar claims that the attorneys representing the current governor of Osun State submitted an ex-parte motion for Adeleke’s substituted service.
He added that, if the application is approved, the tribunal would have been given the authority to serve Adeleke with court papers via alternative methods, such as sticking them on Adeleke’s house.
The tribunal may be required to post on the panel’s notice board or any other location as specified by the court.
Remember how the PDP’s Adeleke was proclaimed the winner of the Osun State governor race on July 16?
Adeleke received 403,271 votes, beating out Governor Oyetola, who received 375,027.
The tribunal’s decision in favor of Adeleke is being contested by Oyetola.
