MULADE HAILS OKOWA FOR APPOINTING GRASSROOT COMMUNITY LEADERS
**URGES APPOINTEES TO REPOSITION DESOPADEC FOR RAPID DEVELOPMENT
TRACKING >A prominent Ijaw leader and human rights development advocate from the oil rich Gbaramatu Kingdom of Warri South-West Local government area, Comrade Sheriff Mulade has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for appointing core grassroot Leaders with exceptional grassroot leadership experience and competence.
Comrade Mulade who is the National Coordinator of a foremost Peace and Environmental rights advocate NGO, The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) while addressing news men in Asaba recently during the swearing in ceremony of the final batch of commissioners in the state, posited that the Governor took his time to pick those that would help to contribute their wealth of experience and help him to build a stronger state in the next four years.
While congratulating members of the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission ( DESOPADEC), the Activist said that; “I am excited about the appointment of Chief Michael Diden as Chairman, Askia Ogieh Managing Director, Comrade Shadrach Agediga, John Nani, Hon Daniel Mayuku, Giftson Omatsuli, Paul Oweh, Dr Paul Bebenimibo and others. These are tested and trusted men that will take development to the door steps of our people”.
“It is imperative to state that majority of the appointees have served in various capacity in their community leadership, therefore we strongly believe in their ability and capacity to reposition the commission to throughly reflect host communities commission and give hope to the communities and attract the needed development to the oil producing communities in the state”, he added.
According to him, the governor had taken into consideration the need to reposition DESOPADEC on the pathway of purposeful development of our oil producing communities.
He implored members of the new Board of the Commission to take bold steps to address the developmental needs of the oil bearing communities of Delta State.
He also urged the board to be all inclusive in carrying out its developmental projects across the state and ensure greater efficiency in service delivery adding that the choice of Governor Okowa on members of the board of the Commission would reposition oil rich Delta State for Rapid human capital and economic Development.
He also advised the new board to do everything humanly possible to develop the oil rich communities, saying that; ” We cannot blame the Governor for any failure because your names and intergrity are at stake in the communities.
