Muller will accept any victory

Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller says he is happy with any win and is not focusing on their performance levels.

On Saturday, Bayern beat Mainz 2-1 at home to move them up to second in the Bundesliga table and give them a third straight victory, which is easing the pressure on the already under fire Niko Kovac, despite him only taking over the reins in the summer.

Thaigo Alcantara got the decisive goal for Bayern after Leon Goretzka’s volleyed finish was cancelled out by Mainz winger Jean-Paul Boetius.

While accepting that they do need to improve in several areas, Muller, speaking after the game, said they cannot be too picky over the style of their play and must focus on results only for the time being.

“Mainz often make it difficult when they are at home,” Muller told Bayern’s official website.

“Nevertheless, we had a lot more chances to score. We can live with the 2-1, it’s not like we’re flying through the league and the games right now.

“We wanted to win by more than one goal, but we are not in the position to complain about victories at the moment.

“We set the tone and had to score more in the first half. After the break we fell asleep but we came back well.”
