Muslim – Muslim Ticket: All of the governors in the South West are Christians – Fani Kayode reacts to APC
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has commented on All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s decision to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 election.
Fani-Kayode urged Christians not to be afraid of the ruling party’s single faith ticket, of which he is a member, in a post on his verified Twitter page on Sunday.
Christians were concerned after Tinubu in Katsina State announced former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 elections, according to Track News.
Significant stakeholders, including Christian leaders, have expressed concerns about marginalization, while others believe the APC’s single-faith ticket is an attempt to Islamize Nigeria.
Former Secretary to the Government of Nigeria Babachir Lawal and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Right Honourable Yakubu Dogara led Christian leaders in the APC’s south and north to raise a red flag against the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
On the other hand, Fani-Kayode took to Twitter on Sunday to highlight instances of Christian politicians dominating Southwest Nigeria and the Nigerian judiciary.
“Until recently, four of the six South West Governors were Muslims,” the former Minister tweeted. Today, all six (with the exception of Oyetola) are Christians, as is every governor in the South.
“Until recently, Muslims presided over the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal High Court.”
“Today, Christians control ALL three.” “DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED,” he wrote.
