By Adeleye Kunle
The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has weighed in on the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket of Muslum-Muslim. The APC presidential flag bearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had unveiled former governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate on Sunday, in Daura, Katsina.
The ticket has been met with a variety of reactions.
During a phone interview with Tracknews, the monarch expressed his thoughts on Tinubu’s decision to pick a Muslim running mate, saying that while religion is important, Nigeria’s problem is bigger than religion.
Speaking further, the Ooni stated that the country is in survival mode due to the crisis, thus the need to look beyond religion to find a way to restore order.
The monarch then urged political gladiators to put religion aside and work together to solve Nigeria’s problems.
Meanwhile, Adebayo Shittu, a former Minister of Communication, has endorsed Tinubu’s choice of Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
The APC and Tinubu have come under fire from various groups and individuals, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, for selecting Shettima as the ruling party’s vice presidential candidate.
