NAFDAC Uncover Illegal Alcohol Factory

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shutdown an illegal alcohol production factory on Lagos Island.
According to the agency, following extensive surveillance, officers uncovered that multiple packing stores and rooms at Oke-Arin market had been transformed into makeshift factories where various brands of alcoholic drinks were being produced, packaged, and distributed openly in the market.
During the raid, authorities seized over 2,000 cartons of empty bottles and already packaged drinks, along with a mini plastic mixing tank, an improvised filter, and various packaging materials.
Three suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal operation.
NAFDAC estimated the street value of the seized items at N200 million and urged the public to remain vigilant, especially when purchasing alcoholic beverages.
The agency stated that “the investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will face prosecution once it is concluded.”
