National Assembly Seats: LP And PDP Call Upon The Appeal Court and NJC To Protect Them From Imo APC.

Members of the Labour Party (LP) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State have made an appeal to the President of the Court of Appeal, Hon Justice Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem. They seek her intervention to prevent what they allege to be a scheme by Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to influence the appellate court into declaring his party’s candidates as winners of all the House of Representatives seats in the February 25 elections.

In a joint statement signed by Barrister Kenneth Uzor and Chief Uzo Amuchie, the parties have raised concerns that the APC in the state is actively working to exert pressure on the Appeal Court to validate their plan of taking over all National Assembly seats, which they believe were rightfully won by others.

They have urged the President of the Court of Appeal to maintain a vigilant stance on Imo State election petition cases, in order to prevent the court from being manipulated by individuals desperate to achieve questionable objectives that could tarnish the integrity of the judiciary.

The parties have expressed confidence in the Secretary of the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the President of the Appeal Court, trusting that they will closely monitor Imo appeal cases to ensure that the court’s integrity remains intact. According to the statement, there have been reports of individuals close to Uzodimma who were celebrating their alleged meeting with the NJC secretary in Abuja and efforts to influence the Appeal Court to uphold what they consider to be wrongful and unacceptable judgments affirming election results in Imo.
