NDLEA appoints ex-EFCC spokesman, Femi Babafemi as Media Director

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has appointed Femi Babafemi as the Director of Media and Advocacy.

Until the appointment, Babafemi was the Editor of Saturday Sun.

The journalist is expected to use his experience in media and strategic communications to lead the publicity and advocacy campaigns of the NDLEA.

The agency, now chaired by retired Brig. General Buba Marwa, has recorded huge drug seizures in recent weeks.

Babafemi joined The Sun in 2003 as a pioneer staff and left in 2008 when he was named Head of Media and Publicity of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He returned to The Sun in April 2012 as an Assistant Editor and promoted Deputy Editor in June 2013. He was appointed the substantive Editor of Saturday Sun in January 2017.

An author of two books, Babafemi started his journalism career in the defunct National Concord.

He is a member of U.S. based Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), among others.

Babafemi holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

He also holds certificates in Communication Strategies – Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA) London; Managing People for Strategic Advantage – Lagos Business School; and Effective Public Relations Planning – The Management School in London.
