Nembe Constituency 1 Prosperity Football Tournament News

The final match of the Nembe Constituency 1, Prosperity Football Tournament took place in the Nembe City Stadium on Saturday.

The match which attracted dignitries to Nembe City, was played between Ward 3 Rangers and Ward 9 FC, two Group A teams that played the opening game of the tournament.

According to the Director of Media and Publicity of the tournament, Tari Agai, it was another fiercely contested game with lots of twists and turns from the beginning of the match to the last blast of the whistle, as both teams delivered exhilarating performances, providing an electrifying experience for the large crowd of spectators.

Mid-way into the first half, Ward 3 Rangers showcased their skill by perfectly executing a free kick, which resulted in a goal and gave them a one-goal advantage.

The Ward 9 FC got an equalizer shortly before the first half transitioned into a barren second half and the Ward 3 Rangers eventually won in penalty shoot-out

At the end of the tournament, David Ebikiemo, was awarded Highest Goals Scorer, and Daniel, the goal keeper of Ward 3 Rangers, the Best Goal Keeper, while Itaribo Aye, of Ward 9 FC, went home as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The winning team, Ward 3 Rangers got a prize of One Million Naira, Ward 9 FC, the first runner-up got Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, while Ward 2 FC which took the third place, went home with Five Hundred Thousand Naira, and other consolation prizes.

Meanwhile, the sponsor of the tournament, who is the member representing Nembe Constituency 1, in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr Oteigbanyo George-Braah, who thanked the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, for taking the kick-off shot of the match and honouring the good people of Nembe Constituency 1, with his esteemed presence, said the essence of the tournament is to foster unity amongst the six wards of the Constituency, scout out players for the State Prosperity Tournament and celebrate the glowing achievements of Governor Douye Diri and his deputy, Sen. Lawrence Ewhridjakpo.

George-Braah, also expressed his profound appreciation to Hon. Chief Edward Irigha-Brigidi minority leader and member representing Nembe Constituency 2, Hon. Chief Sampson Douglas Awudulu, member representing Nembe Constituency 3, Hon.Dr. Wisdom Fafi, member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 2, Hon. Richard Ibegu, member representing Ogbia Constituency 1, Hon. Pamoh Werinipre, member representing kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency 1, Hon. Alalibo West, Commissioner for Special Dutues East, and Mrs Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, Head of Service of the Bayelsa State Civil service.

Others on the list of appreciation are Hon. Golden Jeremiah, Executive Chairman, Ogbia Local Government Council. Hon. Chief David Alagoa Mangite Elect, Executive Chairman of Nembe Local Government Council, Prince Gabriel Jonah, National Leader of Otita Force, Hon Dr Jonathan Obuebite, Special Adviser to the Governor, the Vice Chairman, Nembe LGA Miss Ikio Nuafa, Onos Akpe, the DG Prosperity Cup, Poubeni Ogun, Bayelsa State FA Chairman, Engr Ebiegberi Ebinimi, Chairman tournament organising Committee and his members, Match Officials, the heads of security agencies in Nembe LGA, the participating teams from the six wards of the Constituency, the tournament partners and other government officials.

The lawmaker also thanked traditional rulers and chiefs, the youths and good people of Nembe City and Okoroma Clan, for finding time to attend all 10 matches of the tournament, while assuring his constituents that the 2025 edition of the tournament will be bigger and better, adding that young talents discovered during the competition will be supported in their footballing career.
