2023: Group responds to Miyetti Allah’s claim that IPOB sponsors Peter Obi
By Adeleye Kunle
The Peter Obi Support Network (POSN) has called the claims made by the Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer for the 2023 election, is being sponsored by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), “false.”
Track News previously reported that Alhassan Saleh, the National Secretary of Miyetti Allah, claimed that Biafra separatists and supporters of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu had switched sides. He claimed that a significant number of IPOB supporters have abandoned separatism in favor of Obi’s support.
Onwuasoanya Jones, Director, Strategic Communication, POSN, told Punch on Sunday that many members of the Miyetti Allah are key supporters of the “Obedient Movement.”
“I’m not sure how that individual arrived at such conclusions, but I can tell you that the Peter Obi candidacy excites all classes of Nigerians, including millions who are dissatisfied with the way Nigeria is currently governed.”
“They see a renewed reason to believe in a prosperous and equitable Nigeria in Peter Obi,” Jones said.
