Concerned Group of Christian Religious Leaders in Kaduna State on Tuesday, warned the All Progressives Congress candidates for the House of Assembly not to in any way support Senator Uba Sani’s Muslim Muslim ticket in the 2023 general election.

Uba Sani, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the red chamber, was the anointed candidate of Governor Nasir El-Rufai and winner of the 2023 All Progressive Congress Party Governorship candidate in Kaduna State.

Like Malam Nasir El-Rufai who appointed a Muslim as his deputy, after the death of Arc. Barnabas, Uba Sani will also fly the Muslim-Muslim ticket

However, a statement by the Group’s Chairman, Pastor Gideon Alkhana, said it was not in support of any political candidate, or allow anyone supporting any political aspirant conceiving the motive of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

He said it would be sacrilegious and evil, if Senator Uba Sani go the same way his principal, El-Rufai go to pick Muslim as his running mate

“If our brothers, who are vying for different political offices in southern Kaduna decided to support Uba Sani’s decision to fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket, we’ll make sure we mobilise against their elections in 2023, some of the elected Executive Chairmen in the region would also lose their support.” He said.

He said already, there was division along ethnic lines in Kaduna State, adding that it will be disastrous if Uba Sani and his party go the same way El-Rufai picked a Muslim as his running mate

He added that there are intellectual, policy-driven and capable persons in Southern Kaduna, as there are Christian faithful with proven track records that could deliver just like any other Muslims in the APC.

He said they were conscious of the fact that religion should not form the basis of the leadership selection process, saying the peculiar circumstance the state found herself in, calls for critical reflection in the decisions we take today.

He said for the sake of equity, justice, and fairness, Uba Sani must demonstrate this spirit by ensuring that his running mate comes from the Christian faith
