6 arrested in Adamawa for alleged attempt to tamper with BVAS
Six people have been arrested in Bolki, a community in Numan Local Government Area of southern Adamawa, over an alleged attempt to hack into the BVAS device deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the governorship rerun election in the state.
Numan has the highest polling units of 14, among the 20 LGAs where the governorship rerun took place on Saturday morning.
Bolki in particular has 13 of the 14 polling units where the rerun was held in Numan.
The six men, picked up by operatives of the Nigeria Police, were alleged to be trying to manipulate election results by tampering with the BVAS when they were spotted.
The suspects were arrested after some locals raised alarm over the presence of faces that the community members could not recognize.
A video on the arrest viewed by Track news showed the suspects being whisked away from Bolki in a police van manned by duly dressed police operatives.
The Adamawa State Police Command, however, has not released an official statement on the arrest.
When contacted, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said he has not been officially briefed when contacted
