Personnel of the Nigerian Army in an operation carried out in Isiala-Ngwa North Local Government Area, Abia State, apprehended 20 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and killed 10. This military operation was conducted on Wednesday, 1 November 2023.
Combined security agencies have killed “many” suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed militant wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), across communities in Nigeria’s South-east, said The Force Commander, Joint Task Force South-east Operation Udo Ka, Hassan Taiwo-Dada, who disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing in Isiala-Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, South-east Nigeria.

According to an eyewitness, Chizurum Achinivu, “Yesterday a dozen of the gunners of the Nigerian army came with their van. We were wondering, What kind of job is this? I just heard the screams. They opened fire, killing many on site, I ran for my dear life.
“They captured as many as they could get and put them in their van, they destroyed homes. All I could do was run. Very faintly, from far away, I kept hearing gunfire, over and over. People of Southeastern Nigeria are killed on a daily basis and most of these killings don’t appear on the news.”
