Anambra bills N10,000 for presidential candidate campaign posters
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
According to the Anambra State Government, each presidential contender from all political parties would spend N10 million to have their campaign posters posted around the state.
The declaration was made in a statement that was released yesterday by Mr. Tony Ujubuonu, the managing director and CEO of Anambra Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA).
The directive will have an effect on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Justice Peter Umeadi of the APGA, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC.
According to the announcement, other contenders for public office will also pay various sums to broadcast their advertisements around the state.
Candidates for the House of Representatives must pay N5 million, contenders for the State House of Assembly must pay N1 million, and candidates for president must pay N10 million, according to the statement. Senate candidates must pay N7 million.
As the general election campaign officially kicks off in September, the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), which is in charge of all types of advertising in the state, released the following statement.
“That it is still unlawful to display posters on bridges, traffic signs, light poles, roundabouts, and government facilities.
“That correct approval is necessary after complete payment of the required cost for all forms of campaign advertising, including posters, public address systems, banners, pamphlets, bunting, t-shirts, caps, and other knickknacks.
The declaration states that after the APCON has examined the advertising content, every billboard must be exhibited by a qualified advertising practitioner.
