The All Progressives Congress (APC) youths in Bauchi State have chided former Governor Mohammad Abubakar for his new ‘relationship’ with the incumbent Bala Mohammed who is seeking re-election as a governor.

The group, called Air Marshal Youth Vanguard, while addressing journalists, yesterday, accused Abubakar of engaging in anti-party activities by honouring his successor’s invitation to a dinner organised for him.

Mohammed had on Thursday night held a special dinner for his predecessor on attainment of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and he is said to be the fourth citizen of the state to get the rank.

While speaking at the event, the former governor, who governed the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) successor for recording “so many successes in various sectors.”

He added that: “I must commend him (the governor) for the giant stride he has achieved in various sectors of the economy of the state.”

Since the aim is to develop the state, I am in full support of the developmental stride he has succeeded in achieving and very happy because I don’t have any other state than Bauchi.”

But the group, led by Ismail Alhassan Musa, condemned the former governor for honouring the invitation, and “his speech where he eulogised the PDP-controlled Bauchi State Government, and even calling for his re-election. What a double standard.”

Musa, who accused Abubakar of failing APC as a sitting governor and could not be trusted by the party, said: “Abubakar and his wife have been paying ostrich and it is now evident that they are not with the progressives. The leopard cannot change its colour by a mere deep in the sea.”
