Couple Arrested For Allegedly Dumping Their Newborn Baby In Dustbin

Blessing Ben and Luka Iliyasu, the suspects, were believed to have been together for two years before the girl became pregnant.
A Nigerian lady and her boyfriend have been arrested and detained by Adamawa State Police Command.
They were arrested for reportedly killing their infant and dumping the body in a dumpster on July 8, in Yola.
Blessing Ben and Luka Iliyasu, the suspects, were believed to have been together for two years before the girl became pregnant.
According to SP Suleiman Yahaya-Nguroje, spokesperson of the Police Command, “Blessing was put in a family way by her boyfriend, Luka a resident of Police barracks Yola, after two years of courtship”.
On Tuesday, he informed reporters in Yola that Blessing, who lives in the Jambutu region of Yola North Local Government region, had denied murdering the baby, alleging that it was born prematurely.
“I had a safe and peaceful delivery but the baby was lifeless hence my decision to dump it in the dustbin.
“When I discovered that it was a stillbirth, I kept the corpse for two days before I dumped it in the dustbin and even my aunt whom I have been living with did not know that I was pregnant for nine months,” she told newsmen.
According to a police official, the suspects will be charged in court after the investigation is completed.
