Imo All Progressives Congress (APC) was thrown into confusion on Tuesday when former chairman Dan Nwafor laid claim to a letter purportedly signed by the National Secretary Sen. Iyiola Omisore reinstating him.

The letter dated 15th June,2022 and titled “Reinstatement of the Dan Nwafor led Executives” reads: “I write to convey the decision of the leadership of the party to comply with the Supreme Court judgment in the case between APC V Evans Enwerem and 2 others (SC/CV/884/2020) which ordered for reinstatement of Dan Nwafor state led Executives of the party in Imo State.

“You are by this development directed to take possession of the party Secretariat as well as take charge of all party activities in the state as the Chairman until the expiration of your tenure on the 31st July 2022.”

In a swift reaction, the MacDonald Ebere-led state executives described the purported letter as not only fake and misleading but “it is also a dramatised case of forgery.”

In a statement by Imo APC Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, the state chairman said the letter had multiple contradictions and inconsistencies.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored such mischievous and ill manufactured document, in the face of its multiple contradictions and obvious inconsistencies. The said letter is not only fake and misleading but it is also a dramatized case of forgery masterminded by an unintelligent desperado.

“It is important to state that there was nothing in the majority judgement delivered by the Supreme Court on Friday, May 27 2022 in the case between APC vs Evans Enwerem & 2 others SC/CV/884/2020 that confers any recognition and legitimacy on Dan Nwafor and his co-travellers. The judgement remains unambiguous and clear.

“It is however regrettable that while we focus on the post primary election management and party building ahead of the forthcoming general elections, one idle and grossly inconsistent gymnast is somewhere, obviously as a result of joblessness, has decided to use our party to catch cruise and keep himself unproductively busy. But his pyrotechnics has acrobatically bounced against him and his vaulting ambition.”

He noted the national leadership of the party particularly the NWC has never met to issue such directive and could not have written a letter of such magnitude through an unidentified proxy, “If it was not an ill conceived ‘oluwale’ product which Senator Rochas Okorocha political family is generally notorious for.”
