THE Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, encouraged South-West governors Wednesday to collaborate on forest surveillance to combat mounting insecurity in the region.

In a statement, the king requested governors in the region to conduct aerial surveillance to monitor kidnappers’ actions in the wooded areas.

“Fighting insecurity is a team effort,” he stated. Residents should not entrust everything to the government. Everyone is responsible for where we are now. Finding a solution should be done as a group effort. Residents must be security conscious.

“The recent rash of kidnappings on our highways must be stopped.” The perpetrators conceal out in dense forests beside roadways. It provides them with an easy ride for a successful kidnapping operation.

“One of the better solutions is to provide surveillance planes to scour our forests.” I urge the governors of Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, and Ondo states to join together to combat this threat, just as they did in the founding of Amotekun.”
