Buhari instrumental in my political rise; I’ll never go against him: Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his support in helping him win election to the Senate in 2007.
On Thursday in Bauchi, Mr Mohammed spoke at the opening of the Upgraded Bauchi Urban Water Scheme.
The governor claims that the gesture earned him political acclaim, which he currently enjoys.
On the banner of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Mr Mohammed was elected senator for Bauchi-Central in 2007.
On the People’s Democratic Party’s platform, Mr Mohammed was also elected governor of the state in 2019. (PDP).
“I would like to announce unequivocally that no state in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory, loves you more than Bauchi State.”
“Your genealogy and precedence as a man of great moral standing, incorruptibility, and compassion for the common man distinguish you as a colossus and phenomenon.”
“I, for one, will never forget your help in getting me elected as a senator in 2007.” This was the start of my political rise to power, popularity, and glory.
“As a result, I hold you and former President Goodluck Jonathan in the highest regard, and I will never seek any political office in which either of you has an interest.”
“While I will always be grateful to you, I want to assure you that wherever I may find myself in life, I will always remember you and preserve your integrity and your family,” he stated.
He also praised the federal government’s efforts to improve the state’s citizens’ living standards.
The governor stated that the water project would not have been possible without the federal government’s sovereign guarantee and selection of Bauchi as a beneficiary.
Mr Mohammed also praised President Buhari for his attention for issues that impact the state, noting that the state government has taken advantage of a N12 billion housing facility set up by the federal government.
“I want to reassure you that after the construction work is completed, the residences will be ready for occupancy.”
“I want to reassure you that after the construction work is completed, the residences will be distributed to beneficiaries regardless of political affiliation.” He stated, “We shall continue to support and be loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari.”
Mr Buhari, who was represented by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Federal Government, expressed delight to be in Bauchi, which he termed as his “second home.”
He described his encounters with the people of Bauchi and their rich culture as “a treasured experience.”
According to him, the federal government would continue to assist the state government by implementing viable projects for the state’s long-term social and economic development.
