Gov. Douye Diri, the Messiahlike Leader, a timely occurrence to Bayelsa_____By Ogidi Ben Bara OBB.

Proverbs 29:2 says ” when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn… Having watched keenly the manipulations of the political scenery and its machinery cum the operators, as well as looking at the events which led to the swearing in of His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri as the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State for a second term in office, I found it most expedient to analyse some topical issues that standout Douye Diri from his Predisessors. Indeed, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri is a righteous ruler.

I felt compelled to write this brief account of the achievements of Gov. Douye Diri, intentionally leaving out eight scores percentage of his administration’s overall accomplishment in the first five years of the Prosperity Administration, pinpointing the topical list of projects to be undertaken in his second term in office( talking about the much applauded urban city project as a case study amongst others), youth empowerment and development, as well as the much applauded peace and security within the state.

The topographic features of the landscape in Bayelsa pose a threat to major road infrastructural development, taking into cognisance the abundance of swamps, rivers and mangroves-plated terrain, amongst other physical impediments to infrastructural development.

However, the aforementioned limitations fell down flat like the walls of Jericho before Governor Douye Diri as he marched out with his formidable team, bent in their irrevocable task of linking the hinterland with the state capital by embarking in the completion , rehabilitation and construction of the three senatorial roads. It takes less than ten minutes today to get to Angiama in Southern Ijaw LGA by road, an impossible endeavor before this time because the Miracle Executive Governor, the Man Douye Diri speedily took the road at Anyama-Igeibiri down to the adjoining borders between Angiama and Oporoma, linking Angiama city with their dream road by erecting a bridge first at the Igeibiri-Aguobiri axis.

Today the people of Angiama can work in the Yenagoa Metropolis from their country homes, this is not a mere tale told, it’s an established fact, kudos to the Man Douye Diri. Also,the Angiama-Oporoma bridge is near completion and in less than no time, road will be hitting Oporoma city in Southern Ijaw, there by opening up the windows of development to the Local Government. As an insider,I can confidently attest that Oporoma is not the finishing point of the ongoing road project, neighbouring communities will be linked as well, just as it was done at Angiama and as it is being done for Aguobiri and it’s environs.

The Nembe-Brass road, a gigantic project in all ramifications that was previously perceived almost impossible is on course. It takes a bold and passionate mind to embark on such projects that runs into several billions of naira, yet, the work is being done like that of a classroom construction, very fast and accurate. It is no longer a matter of faith or prayer that the road should get to Brass and its environs, but a matter of fact that Brass will be linked up to the State Capital before the expiration of the Prosperity Administration. This work is yet to get the needed and corresponding applauses befitting it’s nature. The Miracle Executive Governor Douye Diri has made infrastructural development as easy as replacing an old bulb with a new one.

The Sagbama-Ekeremor road rehabilitation and completion is an icing on the cake for the recorded accomplishments of the Prosperity Administration. The West is as close as the East and Central to the State Capital. Continuity and innovation made this possible. Where it was necessary to continue an ongoing road project, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri made sure to continue in order to get the targeted outcome.

Where it was necessary to implement a new road project, he did so not for implementation sakes but making sure to get to the targeted result. Before the completion of his tenor, all three senatorial roads will be completely linked to Yenagoa, the Political Capital of Bayelsa State.

Human Capital Development has remained at the heart of His Excellency Senator Douye Diri. Despite being engaged in several tedious gigantic physical projects, the mind of the governor has never swayed away from his able bodied virile youths, the future holders of the Glory of all Lands. No wonder he separated the Ministry of Sports Development from that of the youths just to pay keen attention to the well esteemed youths of Bayelsa State.

The Miracle Governor has continually kept in touch with the realities of the Bayelsa youths and making sure their God given potentials make way for them by harnessing, developing and empowering the youths through key skills acquisition programs, scholarships and grants. All 105 Wards in the state have youths already empowered by the monthly entrepreneurial empowerment scheme of the Prosperity Administration, thousands of youths have gone through different vocational training and given starter packs and the requisite kits to be independent, thereby reducing the dependency ratio to bear minimum.

To conclude, all this strides wouldn’t have been possible for this administration if the political and socio-cultural atmosphere was tensed; if insecurity was the order of the day. Peace has remained the mantra of the Prosperity Administration, peace was made the motto for use by all who are in a close-knit friendship with the Prosperity Administration, peace has dominated all government sermons and public discourse and peace has found a place to stay in Bayelsa State, all thanks to the strategic , diligent, intelligent and systematic approach by the Miracle Executive Governor to sensitive issues.

The game of conversion and accommodation was priotised over the game of hate and complete annihilation of those constituting themselves enemies to the government of the day and in the words of the Miracle governor” when they bring war, we give them peace, when they bring hate, we give them love”…Diri is the chosen one, let all well meaning Bayelsans support this government for a greater and brighter Bayelsa for all.
