Obaseki Charges Neighborhoods for Securing Oil and Gas Installations.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
The governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has urged local residents to safeguard the state’s oil and gas infrastructure.
Obaseki said that the asset would increase Edo State’s contribution to the country’s ability to meet its oil production allocation by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries yesterday at the inauguration of the Efe Field OML152 in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state. Obaseki was represented by the State Commissioner for Mining, Oil and Gas, Ethan Uzamere (OPEC).
“I want to especially congratulate Newcross Petroleum Limited for this success as you have secured the start-up and stabilization of production from the Efe field – OML152,” he remarked on behalf of the Edo State Government.
“I know it makes your management happy since today marks a turning point in your success story ever since you expressed interest in this asset,” she said. I am aware that you haven’t wavered in your pursuit that has brought you to this commissioning ever since you satisfied all regulatory requirements for the conversion of the asset here from an Oil Prospecting Licence (OPL) phase to an Oil Mining License (OML) phase. The amount of effort and dedication you expended to reach this goal has astonished me.
The commissioning, he said, “would make Edo State one step ahead in consolidating our status as a force to be reckoned with in the oil and gas business. For us as a government, this commissioning will improve Edo State’s contribution to the nation’s ability to meet its oil production allocation by OPEC.
“You might be wondering why Edo currently leads in the ease of doing business in Nigeria. As security infrastructure is given priority and funding, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Governor of Edo State, has made valiant efforts to turn Edo into a haven for investors.
“Our security architecture is focused on the community. The Abudu Township Road, which has three nearby streets and a bridge, is one of the pieces of nearby infrastructure that Governor Godwin Obaseki erected here in Orhionmwon. The Town Hall in Obazogbe-Nugu and the Ugo Skill Acquisition Center in Niyekorhionmwon are two more. The new Police Area Command Office in Urhomehe has also been finished.
The government’s efforts to enhance and safeguard the welfare of its citizens will continue.
“As you very well know, we now have two modular refineries, and they will begin operations very soon,” he said. The first was a modular refinery with a capacity of 6600 barrels per day built by Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Limited and AIPCC Energy Limited.
The Duport Midstream Company Limited founded the second. We won’t remain where we are. We are prepared to bring in more capital for Edo. Since I trust you to be an honest player in the market, Newcross Petroleum Limited may just create the third.
“We kindly request that you consider working with us on this project in the downstream sector, particularly in the vicinity of oil and gas parks and refineries. The goal is to turn Edo State into Nigeria’s energy capital.
According to him, the state’s oil and gas ministry works closely and actively with security organizations to safeguard oil and gas interests throughout the state.
