Ogbia PDP stakeholders task aspirants to eshew divisive tendencies ahead of polls

…condoles with Gov. Dickson on the death of his mother
Stakeholders in Ogbia local government area on Thursday met in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital to push forward discussions on a violent free electoral process for aspirants from the area.
The stakeholders under the aegis of the Ogbia Restoration Caucus insisted that the forthcoming National and State Assembly primaries should be conducted in an atmosphere devoid of any form of rancour.
Chairman of the caucus, Chief George Okirinya restated their commitment towards a healthy electoral process, saying the interest of Ogbia Kingdom is more important than any individual interest.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson decried reports of youths being armed by some aspirants to foment trouble before and during the primaries.
He said such desperate move will spell doom for Ogbia people if not checked and called on leaders and stakeholders of the area to prevail on all aspirants to stop increasing the tension ahead of the polls.
Iworiso-Markson noted that what Ogbia people need are not strong men but those who will build strong institutions by creating the right platform to educate, employ and empower the youths in order for them to have a sustained future.
On his part, the Senior Special Assitant to Governor Seriake Dickson on Youths in Ogbia, Osaanya B. Osaanya said his office will soon commence a sensitization tour to all communities to warn youths against allowing themselves to be used by divisive politicians.
Osaanya B. Osaanya explained that as youths, they are not against the aspiration of any politician but will x-ray their manifesto and extract assurances from them that they can provide educational opportunities like scholarship for them.
He maintained that the forthcoming election will be based on the antecedents of the aspirants, as some politicians are known for using and dumping youths after being elected.
The stakeholders equally used the meeting to commiserate with Gov. Dickson on the death of his beloved mother, Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson and prayed God to comfort him and his family.
