Ortom Replies Youths Asking Him To Resign, Gives Reason For Wike Visit
The Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom has responded to calls for his resignation by the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Zoning Committee.
The AYCF led by Yerima Shettima had called for the resignation of the governor after he allegedly compromised his position by receiving his Rivers state counterpart, Nyesom Wike, who announced his interest in the 2023 election in Makurdi on Sunday.
However, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, Ortom explained that he would carry out his assignment given by the opposition without any blemish
He said, “I am shocked that some people can be insensitive to the plights of others who are distressed. What my brother Governor Wike did was to identify with our pains and offered succor to the best of his ability.
“So it is hypocritical for this faceless group to twist this narrative of Wike’s visit, it is unfair and uncharitable. We must be open to all so that we get the best out of many that have come out to rescue this country from the misery the APC government has put us into.”
