The Cinfores Courts Management Information System, CoMiS, has been used by the Oyo State Government Judiciary to automate its Magistrate court filing system.

Cinfores Limited is a Nigerian-based Information and Communication Technology (ICT) company that collaborates with the judiciary to establish the e-filing system.

The Courts Management Information System, CoMiS, aims to seamlessly manage all court operations in the state in order to make justice dispensation in the digital economy of the twenty-first century quick, effective, and less burdensome.

The Oyo Magistracy e-filing system was formally launched last week at the State High Court premises, with a presentation on operational modalities shown to judges, magistrates, and legal representatives.

Mr. Ayodele Afeniforo, Chief Marketing Officer of Cinfores CoMiS, stated during the software presentation that e-filing would make the work of lawyers much easier and more efficient.

“We were able to use the Court Information Management System to create a platform where people could log in to carry out their filing activities,” he explained.

“It makes the court easily accessible to everyone because people can sit in their homes and access the court registry to do their business; log in with ease, file procedures, and even do affidavits and wills through e-probate.

“It is easier to use, and there is a guideline on the portal to walk users through the process. “This is an innovation that will help to speed up justice delivery; it will improve efficiency and productivity, as well as generate more income for those involved,” Ayodele explained.

Also, Justice Munta Ladipo Abimbola, Chief Judge of Oyo State, stated during the inauguration of e-filing for magistrate court that it is time for legal practitioners to embrace the ongoing digitalization of the court.

Ladipo explained that the court digitalisation was in line with global best practices, and that it was intended to make their work faster, easier, and to ensure efficient justice delivery.

“E-filing is one of the aspects of digitalising the magistrate court and fast tracking the processes because it means that lawyers will no longer need to appear physically at the court registry to file processes,” Ladipo, who was excited with the robust software application, told the audience. All they have to do is go online from the comfort of their office or home to deal with any judicial issue.

“It will cut the time used in filing processes for cases and subsequently, reduce the time used on individual cases. We have begun the e-affidavit process, so we already have a process in place; the materials required for it to work are already in place.”
