Seventy-Eight Companies Bid for Ekiti State Rural Road Construction

Seventy-eight road construction companies have submitted bids for the construction of 13 rural roads totaling 65.10km, as part of the World Bank co-sponsored Ekiti State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
The bid opening exercise, held in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, was overseen by the state Project Coordinator, Hon. Sunday Adunmo, who assured bidders of a fair and transparent evaluation process.
Adunmo emphasized that Ekiti RAAMP does not have a preferred contractor, stating that the goal is to select the most qualified contractor while upholding the integrity of the procurement process and safeguarding the interests of Ekiti State and its citizens.

He highlighted the importance of the roads to be constructed, describing them as “lifelines for farmers” and rural dwellers. Adunmo emphasized that good road networks would encourage farmers to invest more time and resources in food production, particularly amid rising food prices.
The bid opening exercise, which lasted over five hours, was conducted in seven different lots as advertised. It was observed by various stakeholders, including the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, representatives of the Bureau of Public Procurement, and a Civil Society Organisation.
